I don't tend to like people who come across as boastful and arrogant. Well, unless they're funny about it.
But Kanye West isn't funny about it. He's dead serious.
However, he's also so damn good at what he does... that I can't help but agree-- begrudgingly-- with most of the stuff he says about himself. Yeah, yeah, you're amazing. I get it. You're shit is tight. Yes. It's brilliant, almost all of it. Song after song. Fucking brilliant.
If you sit down and deconstruct his lyrics, it truly is amazing what he does with language. And I'm saying that as a writer.
I wonder, does his arrogance mask some deep insecurity, or does he just know, absolutely, how good he really is?
Probably the second one. His ego is surpassed only by his talent.
Lucky for him.

Seriously. So often it's some person that has talent but not enough to warrant the arrogance, or it's someone who could be arrogant but has insecurity issues.
I don't actually own any Kanye albums but have downloaded a few songs. Any suggestions on which album to buy?
That's the thing. They're all good. If I had to pick one, I'd say Late Registration is my favorite. I love that Gold Digger song.
Another singer I'm really into right now is Anthony Hamilton, Comin' From Where I'm From.
